Is it just me or has Ireland’s culture of begrudging come full circle to the point that we have talked ourselves into an economic recession? I am a massive fan of the radio and on Wednesday evening I got listening to the reapeat of Eamon Keane’s lunchtime show on Newstalk. In the brief section of the show which I caught Eamon had Brenda Keenan of the Irish Independent on air. I was most refreshed by Bredan’s view on what needed to be done to take Ireland out of recession.
Brendan Keenan’s solution to Ireland’s economic recession.
Basically Brendan’s suggesstion on how the normal citizen can help to pull us out of this recession is quite a simple one and mirrors an approach previously taken by our Gorvernment in the run up to the ‘celtic tiger’ era. Brendan suggests that our best approach would be to continue spending money. It is no secret that there is still a lot of money in Ireland. It is however held by a certain portion of the population. This I certainly feel is part of the problem that we have in Ireland at the moment. If the people with money hang on to it and do not spend it, then our situation stagnates.
